I grew up in a small community on Cape Breton Island called River Bourgeois.   I was raised by my very loving parents Michael and Joan along with my brothers and sisters Timmy, Bernadette, Richard and Pamela.  Music was always in my house.  If PinkFloyd wasn't spinning on the record player, then it was my mother humming in the kitchen or my father on the guitar.  My brother used to sing himself to sleep, actually I think he used to sing us all to sleep.  It was just a matter of time before I would pick up the guitar.  At the age of 14, I sang in my first variety concert with my best friend Susan.  To say the least, it was a disaster.  We giggled through the entire Ann Murray song "could I have this dance".  A year later, with much encouragement,  I was back on stage.  Since then, I have played many local shows, songwriter's circles, variety shows, benefits, jam sessions, kitchen rackets, and weddings.  But it wasn't until I was asked to play at a funeral that I stepped back a bit.

Arnold Sampson , a prolific songwriter and gifted musician requested that I sing at his funeral.  I was honoured and terrified but with the help of Rosie,  I did it and something changed me musically that day.  I can't quite put my finger on it but something is different.

Now, I'm here. It's a naked feeling but I'm ready.

About Me

Funny Story:

Ever wonder why I sit down instead of stand?  I was 15 at a variety concert in Johnstown, Cape Breton.  On stage, by myself, standing, singing "Girls of Neil's Harbour" when my guitar strap let go.  My guitar swung  out and knocked 3 of the microphones  into the crowd below.  Never again!

Let's Get Personal.....

I am married to my high school sweetheart Mike.  He hails from Glace Bay .... 'nuff said.  We started dating in high school and we were married in the summer of 1993.  August 21st to be exact.  (In case he forgets, he can check back to this page)

In December of 1994 our lives changed as we welcomed a baby boy into our family.  Dylan.   The best thing that ever happened to both of us!
